Class of '09 writer and creator Tom Rob Smith has a self-proclaimed fascination with these photos and the "mysteries" that they contain.Ĭlass of '09 unites two dramatic actors with a wealth of experience. The concept for the series came from the idea of a "class photo" wherein graduates, coworkers, peers, or simply individuals tied to each other pose for an annual photograph. As the series weaves in and out of its expansive, thirty-year timeline, it's painfully obvious that thirty years in the field has not been without consequence. Moreover, their once-noble bureau has employed the questionable usage of surveillance, spying, artificial intelligence, and the unrestricted use of technology. When they convene later in their careers, Tayo and Poet realize that, for better or for worse, the job has molded them as people. Despite their opposite roles within the bureau-Tayo being "one of the most unorthodox agents to ever join the bureau" and Poet being one of the most successful undercover agents of all time-, the two maintain a working relationship for the duration of their careers.
